Can I be charged for an ambulance I did not call?

A friend got worried when she didn't hear from me this morning and called an ambulance on me. I didn't even answer the door because I'm fine, didn't call for help, and was scared they would try to get me to sign billing forms. I told them I had been sleeping and was fine, and they left. No papers were signed. I'm just scared they will send a bill to my address. My friend went completely crazy doing this. She hadn't heard from me since only last night. And she freaked out when I didn't respond to an email and phone message. I never got the email she supposedly sent, and my phone was off so I didn't get the voice message. Am I going to get a surprise ambulance bill? She called them for no reason and without my knowledge or consent. And I didn't let them in or give any information.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who answered. I'm just scared of being billed because that ambulance company is a very shady privately owned business. I hope you are all right and they won't try to charge me when I didn't do anything. And yes, my friend is a complete lunatic. She's been showing signs of mental illness for the last few years, but this really went over the top.

Your friend is a nut. She should have called the police to do a welfare check, not call an ambulance. You wont be billed since you did not request it.

you should not be charged.
I called the paramedics several times to help me lift my husband up. (he could not walk) and never was I charged. They just make sure that there are no injuries.

As long as no medical actions where taken, you shouldn't have to pay for anything.
