Why do car company's keep changing safe things in our cars to save a few bucks per unit and end up with billions in recalls and law suits .?

Are they hiring people like we used to talk about when I was young . To-wit they sent that kid to college and He came back without common sense . I say dump some of that crap in cars we do not need and bring back safe air bags, belts, gas and brakes peddles that work like the ones in the old cars did . We do not need a car with all the crap they charge us for -just a safe one for us and our loved ones !!!!

Except that modern cars ARE safer than the "Good Ole Days", in spite of a few technical glitches. For every person killed by a faulty air bag, 500 have probably been saved.

Personally I like my Airbags, ABS, stability control, seat belt pretensioners, side intrusion bars and proximity radar thank you very much. Because all those things have been made cheaper. they can now be fitted to regular Toyota cars that anyone can afford.

Apparently Marketing Research differs from your opinion, however I agree, too many useless distractions in cars anymore - rarely does anyone look out the windshield for more than a small percentage of the time.

I'm not sure I entirely understand your question, but the short answer is because that's what makes the most money
