Why the rush to award best answer?

This used to be an unwind place at the end of the day...helping kids with homework...answering the unanswerable. I haven't been able to participate in months since they changed the format AGAIN....is there a problem for Y!A if people let the questions sit for a day or two?? Sheesh..

I agree with you. It seems people want to award a best answer as soon as the question has one answer. I would wait at least 3 or 4 days to see the answers I got before I decide to award a best answer. Sometimes even 7 days. But there is a lot of kids now here that gets their rocks off by awarding one of their friends a best answer.

Wayyyyy back in the day ... an asker had to wait at least 4 hours to choose a Best Answer. Some complained that they got a good answer and wanted to choose one sooner .... and so Yahoo changed things to allow a BA to be chosen after just one hour. Some still complain that they have to wait even that long!

Some just like to ask a question, read whatever answers they get (and honestly, most answers are received within the first hour if not minutes in the really fast-moving categories), choose a BA, and never think about that question again.

Short attention-span! An entire generation has now grown up with instant gratification the norm, and no appreciation of the idea of wait-and-see. I like to leave my questions open for at least a few days. Sometimes I get a good answer 3 or 4 days after asking, so I'm never in a hurry to choose a BA.
