Did Richard Nixon try to criminalize blacks and hippies so they cant vote for the democrats?
By making cocaine and weed illegal and turning them into felons?
Or is this just a conspiracy theory?

Nixon put in place the "Southern Strategy".
I'm probably over the head of most of you folks on these details / history.
When Lyndon Johnson signed the 1964 Civil Rights Act, he’s said to have predicted, “There goes the South for a generation.” He feared black suffrage would prompt white Southerners to abandon the Democratic Party. Under Richard Nixon, the GOP’s “Southern Strategy” aimed to ensure it by systematically making veiled (and often not-so-veiled) racist appeals to white voters. “From now on,” Nixon aide Kevin Phillips told him, “the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the ***** vote, and they don’t need any more than that.”
The Southern Strategy succeeded beyond what even Nixon could have imagined. It set off—or hastened—a political realignment in which the Democratic “Solid South” abandoned an attachment dating to the Civil War. In 1980, Ronald Reagan carried the entire South except for Jimmy Carter’s home state of Georgia. In 1994 a gain of 19 House seats in the South enabled the Republican takeover of Congress.

Sounds very much like a conspiracy that a coke-head or pot-head would come up with.
The DOJ criminalized those drugs because there was an unprecedented number of people dying from drug overdoses at the time and drug trafficking was ruining cities like New York and Chicago. Someone had to do something about it or the country would have become one big crime scene.

Yes, Nixon actually did that. In fact, he appointed the Republican Governor of Pennsylvania to head a panel to determine whether marijuana should be legal. The Republican Governor of Pennsylvania told him that marijuana wasn't dangerous enough to be illegal, but Nixon kept it illegal anyway.

Those things were already illegal before Nixon
?
Nixon did nothing of the sort. The laws predate him. LOL
