Which diamond is better to buy (that has more value for the money & has better resale value)?

Question

If there are two choices:

a ring with large diamonds
Color I-J with clarity I1 or I2
Total weight 1/2 or 3/4 carat.

Or a ring with one small diamond
Color D-F with clarity FL-VVS1
Weight 1/8 carat or less?

Forget the resale on diamonds unless you are buying investment grade diamonds.  Ask any dummy that has bought a big old second class diamond and spend 10,000 what they got when they sold it and the answer is about 25-50% of that 10K
