Need tips for cleaning a large, lightly dirty home. Has to be spotless. I don t live there, I'm the cleaning lady.?

I m a cleaning lady with a new customer. The house is brand new, 1700 sq ft, and has all dark hardwood floors except for the 2.5 baths which have ceramic tile. There are 4 area rugs. The owner has one large dog that does not shed much but does track in dirt. Only one adult and one dog live there. The house is lightly dirty but large and Mr customer is demanding about wanting it spotless(especially the floors) in 4 to 5 hours. Any tips for a large lightly dirty house that has to be immaculate(especially the floors).

Suggest that he get an industrial grade doormat that catches some of the dirt from the feet.

This will keep the place colser to what he wants it to be like during the week.

As for you, run the vacuum cleaner around on the hard floor setting or rug setting whichever is appropriate,
THEN damp mop the floor well, and dust the top of any doorway, picture frame (don't ever touch the artwork), and then do the bathrooms and the kitchen.

Vacuuming will get rid of the grit, so you aren't just swishing it around with the mop. It will also catch the dog fur.
Vacuum the couch as well - a lot of dirt will collect there, even if the dog isn't allowed on it. Just make sure the vac is on the upholstery setting. If he has furniture throws and a microsuede bedspread, wash those to get rid of the dog dirt.

Don't bother with a lot of fancy cleaning supplies- you can get more up with old pieces of towels and clean water than anything. For dusting, use a two sided bucket- one for clean water, and one to rinse, and empty it often. have plenty of pieces of toweling, and put them in the wash when you're done. That will take away a LOT of the dust and dirt. You want to get it out of the house, not just move it around.

Be extra nice to the dog, always give him a cookie. Dog owners tend to be loyal to people who get along with the dog. If you do that and go in as if you were cleaning up after a happy child, that will count for a lot.
