Is it true you can cancel your menstrual cycle with birth control?
I skipped my placebo pills and went straight to the active pills in my new pack but my period still came down heavy and it's the 5th day and it's still down. What's going on??

No, that's not true.

You don't have a menstrual cycle if you use hormonal birth control pills - the whole point of this birth control method is that it cancels your menstrual cycle so you don't ovulate, and thus you also don't menstruate - the bleeding you experience on the placebo pills is a withdrawal bleed caused by the drop in synthetic hormones.
If you skip placebo pills and continue with active pills you shouldn't experience the withdrawal bleed but it depends on the brand and how your body responds, skipping your placebo pills doesn't always guarantee no bleed at all.
