Why do people use gay as an insult?

Im just asking because kids that hate me at my school tell me oh your so gay. How is that an insult? I mean, i am gay but its not an insult.

I'm a lesbian (I usually call myself gay as in homosexual) and I still call stuff "gay" (slang for lame, synonyms for happy or carefree). The kids who call you gay are perhaps trying to attack or insult you - kudos to you that you don't let those nincompoops bug you, but I suggest you report the behavior to a guidance counselor. Some people are more sensitive to the term than others, so it's really important they understand your context if you choose to use it. Words only have the meaning you give them.

just ignore them and do tell your teacher or your principal. that's considered bullying and should not be taken lightly.

Being gay It's not natural, and is a genetic defect.
