Guillain-Barré Syndrome?

Hi

I have a relative who is 26 years old and he was diagnosed with GBS about 8/9 weeks ago. He is currently unable to walk or move his feet and is now struggling with movement into his hands. He can t lift his arms up. He speaks to you okay, though he speaks rather quiet now.

I just want to know if anybody else has experience GBS before as an adult, and what kind of recovery time they took. It s been a long time and no real improvement now and all I can do is worry about his wellbeing.

Thank you for any answer.

There is no normal route for GBS; everyone is different. Some recover completely and some always have a deficit. Your best course is to discuss it with his care team, and if that is not possible, with a family member who is up to date on everything. It is a long recovery however for everyone.
