Joining the army safely?

I am very experienced in programming and would like to know if I could be in the army but not be in "danger", I need a way to go to college, so could I go to college for free for doing programming in the army? or something like that?

No, that is not possible to say because My husband has been in the military for 19 years, and I have seen them deploy soldiers as soon as they got out of training leaving their families still unpacking.

The military hires out for programmers.
You might get a job working in some kind of IT id your ASVAB line scores are high enough.

There is no such thing as "free college" sunshine, everyone that joins the Military has the potential of being put in harms way and is expected to earn their taxpayer financed Benefits.

No such thing as "safe" in the army.

You might eventually be able to find an administrative post with relatively little danger - but there's no guarantee you won't be in danger at some point.

It would be very unusual to be a programmer in the military. Such jobs are normally filled by civilian contractors or consultancy firms.
