How inaccurate is automatic fire?

Random question, but you see all these video games that claim to be realistic (arma, battlefield, squad, etc) but I feel like I'm real life full auto fire wouldn't be as accurate as it is. Anyone have personal experience with firing rifles in real life full auto, especially from standing positions?

In video games, it is not you that is holding the gun. In real life, you'd be spraying bullets all over the place if you were standing up and trying to fire a M60 machine gun; any light machine gun for a matter of fact. I'd say out of all of the guns you can use in video games, the ones with the most accurate accuracy are weapons such as the M16, bolt-action rifles, semi-automatic rifles, and sniper rifles(which are much easier to use in real life since you will never be standing up with one or using it without a bipod). Your strength also plays a role because you will usually have a grip on your rifle for improving accuracy. If you're weak, your accuracy might be worse than someone who is stronger and can prevent more recoil.

You can (depending on the rifle) get a little barrel rise on full auto. But in the military you are trained to compensate for this by using pressure to keep the barrel down.
