My laptop was on 6 percent so I plugged it in and put it in sleep mode. Then later that day I open it again and it's still at 6 percent. The charging icon comes up when I plug it in but it says "plugged in but not charging" does anyone know how to fix this?

Start by uninstalling and then reinstalling the battery. You do know that the message is telling you that the battery is not charging. It may be loose in it's connector housing.

Firstly check that your power adapter has an output.
If the connection is o.k then it could be a problem with the Motherboard or the battery.
