What are my odds of making a living as a music artist and what are the odds of making a living as a music artist in general?

In general: What are the odds of making a living as a musician in general? As in, how many people make a living as a musician compared to how many people are trying to make a living as musicians? Are there any official numbers/statistics on this?

My odds:What are the odds of making a living as a musician as a 20 year old who sings and writes own songs with a following on Youtube of about 4000 people? I have gotten very positive feedback at live shows but I still am very unknown and obviously not signed to a record deal or anything. What would you estimate are my odds of making a living?

Low. But if you try really hard, and have some luck, you might do it.

With a crude standard of say making about $30k a year, the odds are about the same as turning whale doo-doo at the bottom of the ocean into useful fertilizer. That's pretty much regardless of your skill, talent, or YT following. Math games might include taking your best day or paid gig 'times 365. Sure, if you love it, do it, but the trick is to get or have a day gig, a job that actually pays the bills, while you don't overdo it in the meantime.
This guy had a gig in France the week after I saw him live (great show), but he still drives a bus in Chicago, too.
