wash them with proper product in warm water, beginning at the bottom.  replace soapy water as it becomes dirty.

You wash them.  I use Mr. Clean in warm water with a sponge rinsing the sponge often so as not to spread dirt around.  If it's a tough stain I use a Mr. Clean eraser pad but you have to scrub gently when you use them or they will also remove the paint.
