My home build is a 3570k that I've used for years and it still runs with no slow down at all. I was looking for a laptop that is comparable or better but I'm surprised to find that nothing measures up. What are some good laptops under $1000 (refurb/used/ebay?) that can match or best my 3570k?

You can buy a brand new laptop with a Core i7-7700hq or Core i5-7300hq for under $1000 if you make a concession with what kind of graphics card it comes with and possibly screen size. It looks like the 7700hq does a good job of stacking up against the Core i5-3570k.

Go on eBay and check out the Dell 4500 he will be surprised that it has very good specs for the money
