I have seen some dealers offering body side molds. Some in chrome others painted with chrome insertions. I am wondering why they are produced from the factory without these side molds.

The type of body side moldings your are referring to are no longer popular or prevalent in automotive design or styling. The same goes with old school front and rear bumpers that jut out several inches. They both take away from the sleekness of design and aerodynamics automaker are seeking. They are no longer in vogue.
Do you want side moldings mounded to your Sequoia? Easily done. A Toyota dealership is not a good place to ask for such. Simply talk to any auto body shop in your area, they will be glad to set you up.
