A 1997 Maxima? They are generally very reliable cars. Those were built in the pre- Carlos Ghosn days, when Nissan was at the top of their game in terms of build quality and reliability, even if they weren't selling well. It's old so understand that it has proven it's worth by lasting as long as it has. If it's been cared for, you probably still have a years of life left in it. Just know that you will need to replace something on it. Maybe nothing major, but things will need replacing. Age can be your enemy even on a car that has really low miles. Anyway, as for the 1997 Maxima being a good car, yes.

They can be.
But keep in mind that a 1997 vehicle is now over 20 years old and how it has been driven and maintained up until this point will have a huge impact on future reliability and life-span.
If it's in good shape and you can get it for a good price, it may be worth the risk but it is potentially a risky purchase...

My mom's Maxima was a good car. My boss also has a Maxima. But to check about specific years, go to Edmunds online and see what they have to say about that model year.

The car is 21 years old.Don't waste your money. You'll end up paying more for repairs than the car is worth Save your money until you can afford something half decent a couple years old with low mileage.
