People who have been a "sneak aboard" and have snuck living aboard a sailboat, what is it like? What is the best way to go about it?

Most sailboats are small enough that even if you managed to sneak aboard without anyone noticing, the occupants of the boat would know very soon that there was someone extra aboard. 99.9% of sailboats are so small that there really is no place to hide for long.
