I have a 2011 Toyota Camry and my mother ran over something that cracked the plastic shield/guard under the front bumper.?

What should I do to get this fixed? I seems to be as easy as jacking it up and screwing it back in (and maybe throwing a few band-aids on it to keep it in place). But when I'm driving, it sounds like...well, it sounds like I'm dragging some heavy plastic under my car. I just don't want to leave it and let it get worse, or even cause other issues. So any advice on this would be appreciated. Like, should I let insurance take care of it? Or, should I get a "car guy" to patch it? And what kind of costs am I looking at...either way I choose to go with this? Thanks!!!

Easy fix. Shield affixed with a few bolts. If you keep dragging it, there won't be enough left to fix. You need to jack it up and look to see the damage. Careful with the car on a jack- make damned sure the ground is firm and steady. Better you should use a car ramp or jack stand while you'r under the car.

Don't work under a car supported only by a jack. Use jackstands or ramps.

If your skinny, you can probably slide under it well enough to inspect it, with all four wheels on the ground.

Yes, you can probably patch this well enough yourself. Take a look at it. This is not a high-precision component.

Nylon "Zip ties" are probably your best bet.

Replace it! You can easily purchase and install the guard, from seller such as rockauto.

insurance is not a good idea, as the deductible is probably $ 500 or more..............if you have the mechanical ability to jack the vehicle up, place jack stands under it, then evaluate the problem, then go ahead; if not, then either take the vehicle to a small auto repair shop near you or a larger shop that may charge more
