I have a Sony sound bar with subwoofer and was thinking about connecting two desktop studio speakers to the system. The speakers and soundbar have 3.5mm jacks so in theory could I just hook them both up to a 3.5mm hub or would that cause audio lag? Or what other solutions would you guys suggest. Any help is welcome and thanks for your time.

Hi so mentioning the 3.5mm plugs indicates that we are talking non HiFI system
Probably wont work. If it did, doubling up on the mids and highs with speakers from a totally different manufacturer would just make the studio monitors sound bad, muddy even. Sound does not improve by adding more drivers willy nilly. If the current TV system sound isn't getting it done for you, better to upgrade.
First of all, why bother? That 3.5mm jack on the soundbar is most likely for headphones, meaning that if you plug your speakers into the soundbar, you'll only get sound from the speakers.
You won't get sound from the soundbar+sub and the speakers. It's either-or.
