Is it possible for someone to fix this office chair?

I bought my husband an expensive office chair.   It adjusts up and down, swivels and rocks back. It was $800 and I spent that much because he is a big guy and the chair was supposedly made to hold 1000lbs (stationary of course).  My husband isn’t half that weight but he is big and tall and this chair was perfect for him.  He loved this chair.

But then it broke.  First it broke to that if you sat on it, it dumps you out.  But now it is totally broken in half.  It looks like there is a metal connecting piece that totally broke.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to fix this, who might fix it, or should I just get rid of it?   I don’t even know where to start but I know I can’t fix it.

The company doesn’t care.  I have bought stuff from them before that has broken and they have like a 30 day return policy.   But it’s the only place I found with oversized furniture like that.

Assuming it actually would hold 1000 lbs, it was overpriced at $400. 
If it is broken in half, it i beyond repair an any price that won't REPLACE it.

take the broken metal part to a machine shop and see if they can make you a new part to match out of steel.  check craigslist and facebook for small, independent machine shops in your area.  [now, if you were in central Vermont, I'd know someone who maybe can do this]

Go back to the manufacturer. You have statutory rights.

If it breaks in normal use it is not of 'merchantable quality.'

Doesn't matter about the 30 days - get your local trading standards (or equivalent) involved if necessary,
