I have a 2017 Honda. The brake pedal falls about an inch when the engine starts. Is this normal, do I need service?

That's the power assist for the brakes coming on.

An inch might be excessive.

But your power brakes provide power assist only when the engine is running, and producing vacuum at the booster. A bit of pedal drop is normal, especially if you're holding pressure with your foot.

NO, it isn't normal, and indicates something bad is going to happen to you if you don't get it fixed.
