Because they were originally two separate villages in two different counties; both named from the Anglo-Saxon Hǣs or Hǣse: "(land overgrown with) brushwood".
As London expanded, they were subsumed.
It isn't THAT confusing, one's in Bromley, the others in Hillingdon; and there are plenty of towns that share names.
