I have purchased a 2005 Golf TDI 1.9 Diesel
I am getting quoted £2300 from smart wheels which is blackbox fitted
Any idea if smart wheels is any good? & is there any company out there who will insure me without a blackbox?

There are plenty out there who will do it at but at a much higher rate.
With a black box and a Golf TDI expect lots of penalty payments.

I have no idea if Smart Wheels is "any good" since that is a relative question. .
Yes there are companies who will not require using a "Spy" box so they can watch you like big brother and know your every move. Simply call around to find one.

Put your details into one or more of the comparison websites. You'll get a list fo the companies that will insure you and the prices.
19 years old + Golf TDI + 7 month old licence = you're not going to get cheap insurance.

your young ..no experience ..your real gripe is the black box ...problem is ..drivers 17-24 amount to 5% of drivers ..yet cause 20% of death crashes ...insurance companies are very aware of this ..hence the black box ...this will control your driving habits ..doubt if you can find cheaper

Without the box expect a higher rate.
The purpose of the box is to confirm you are a responsible driver. should some bad thing happen.
That you drive like a jerk is your bad driving and you pay a penalty in increased rates.
