Do government employees get paid during a shutdown?

Like do intelligence analysts I work for the FBI or even just a secretary or maybe even a janitor that works for the FBI or CIA get paid when there is a government shutdown? I would hope that they do because it's not fair to deprive people of income because of things that are beyond their control and just because the government shuts down doesn't being that an individuals bills stop coming until he's back at work

Some do get paid.

Some don't get paid and aren't allowed to work.

Some work and don't get paid during the shutdown, but are expected to get back pay after the shutdown ends.

No. Non-essential employees are placed on furlough and just don't get paid at all for the time off unless they have vacation days they can use after the government reopens.

Essential personnel such as military, air traffic control etc still have to report to work, however they do not get paid during the shutdown either. They do get back pay when the government reopens.

some do as normal, the others are paid afterward. and usually they get paid even if they didn't work while the government was 'shut down'
