What does it say about Prince Charles that, at age 32, he asked a 19 year old who he did not love to marry him?

By 1981, royals no longer needed to enter arranged marriages. Charles’ parents marriage was not an arranged marriage. What was wrong with Charles at age 32 that created a situation whereby he could not find a woman that he loved to marry?

Obviously, it says very little for him or at the age of 32, allowing himself to be bullied, pushed around and dictated to as to who he should marry.

Charles really didn't want to get married. He was happy with Camilla as his mistress. But, he had received some not-so-good advice from his beloved great-uncle and "honorary grandfather," Lord Louis Mountbatten. Mountbatten thought that Charles should be in his thirties and marry a virgin---Mountbatten really wanted Charles to marry his granddaughter, Amanda.

Charles new how important a prospective Princess of Wales and future Queen Consort was to the realm. He thought that he had to marry an unsullied woman of clean reputation to please the people.

In the late ’70’s early ‘80’s, it was still expected of the Royal family that the men marry virgins.

He may not have beeen 'in love' with her to the extent that his feelings for Camilla have remained, but we can not say that he never loved her at all.

It was more important for him to have at least one child.

Clearly he had an emotional problem. He did not have his priorities straight. Lots of people have that problem. His father put pressure on him to marry Diana, a suitable virgin. Most men don’t face that particular pressure, but plenty of them do silly things for silly reasons.
