Thanks for the explanations so far.

To some people there's no difference.
I've no problem with funny questions or answers. I love trying to lighten people's days!
Others though take YA as some sort of sacred place where you have to answer everything with a dour expression and a clipped and precise answer.

Trolling is to have a laugh at somebody else's expense, like pushing an old lady down stairs for your own amusement. The essence of humor is the unexpected, which is not viciousness.

I'm having a laugh and you are trolling.

Its a bit like I am careful with money - you are stingy

Having a laugh is not so negative as trolling

Troll all you want on some other site. This site is for those in help, over something as simple as "What is a safe temperature to cook pork?" to "My granddaughter just swallowed a bottle of pills" (both actual questions I have answered), they need someone who can help to find and answer their question quickly. Those seeking to answer questions also have a limited time to find someone they can help. When much of that time is wasted scrolling through childish trolls, no one here is laughing. Grow up.

Because trolling means to laugh at SOMEONE ELSE'S EXPENSE.
