1 acre = 66 feet by 660 feet (22 yards by 220 yards)
You'd want each hole to be about 44 yards wide (minimum), preferably 66 yards. and vary in length from about 100 yards to 400 yards Take the average length for a hole to be 220 yards and the average width 55 yards
Then the average hole takes 2.5 acres. Multiply by 18, and you get 45 acres. Add on a club house and so on, and you'd cover about 60 acres.
That's a relatively small course (about 4000 yards long), and relatively simple for playing.

Most good courses are about 6,000 yards long, so add another 20 acres....

There are no common land sizes for a golf course, it depends on the golf course designer... but golf courses are about 7000 yards when you walk from hole 1 to hole 18. So the land size could be around 30,000 sqfeet (convert to acre yourself).

An average golf course would have around 75 acres of maintained turf and a total of 140-150 acres of land.

You could probably build fair sized course on roughly a few hundred acres, providing you placed the wholes so younare always doubling back on yourself after each hole
