How to shrink a denim skirt?

I have a white denim skirt I bought that is just a bit too long and baggy on my and very unflattering. Is there anyway I can shrink it somit is tighter and more flattering? PS I don’t have a tumble dryer

As a professional seamstress who is knowledgeable about fabrics and clothing, if something does not shrink in hot water, whether it is tumbled dried or not, it will not shrink any further during subsequent washings.

Therefore, if something is too big, you should get it altered. If the garment has a set in waistband, the back seam can be altered from the waistband down. It is much easier and more successful and less expensive to do alter a skirt from the back seam than the two side seams, which typically interfere with any front pockets the garment may have. Especially is there are studs in the jeans that are typically located at the stress points of a pocket near the side seams. You are looking at a possible $15 to $25 alteration cost, depending on where you go to have the skirt altered.

You can call a local fabric store where they know qualified seamstresses who can alter your skirt. Otherwise, you may find a dry cleaner who has a seamstress service or recommends one.

In my experience you can just eat more

you cannot shrink it unless you lather olive oil on it and leave it overnight and the next morning it shrinks, i had the same problem and this worked for me and all my clothes fit me now :)

In the 1950's, girls would wear the jeans in a bathtub of hot water and let the jeans dry on them. This apparently shrank them to a very tight fit.

No. First, a hot dryer is about the only way to shrink clothing. Second, you can never anticipate the direction or amount of the shrinkage. Your best option is to have it tailored. Most dry cleaners offer tailoring services. They can shorten the hem and take it in.
