It depends what you want to use it for. To drink out of, a tumbler every time.

If you want to carry water around with you, transport it, or store it, a water bottle is best.

Environmentally and money wise, tumblers. Though water bottles tend to be the 'easier' option considering you don't need to keep up with washing and refilling them.
