Would a cameraman be fired for doing this?

Recently a friend of mine told me a funny story that made me think.As she told it,around 10 yrs. ago she was watching a local T.V news broadcast that had a young blond girl in a dress doing the weather.My friend tells me that its not unusual for woman standing up on T.V do go w/out shoes on because the camera only goes down to their waist or knee level.So it went  on the show my friend was watching when the cameraman-I suppose he was just being a wise-***,purposely moved the lens down to get a close up of the womans stocking feet.My friend said that  the woman smiled and make a joke about how her feet hurt,but that you could tell from her expression that she was NOT happy!My friend thought it was funny but made a comment to the effect of:'I bet the guy behind the camera his job that day!"Could that  person really have been fired for doing that?

Of course.  Not only was it unprofessional, but there are directors for news shows who block out all camera angles.  The cameraman wouldn't have been following that direction.  He'd probably be unable to get another job in the business, since TV news really is a small community and word would get around.  He deliberately disobeyed orders from his director and deliberately humiliated an on-air personality.  He killed his career.

I doubt it. Reporters usually get to be friends with their camera operators and it was all in good fun. It also shows the viewers that reporters have their human side too. Good P/R.
