For me, it's because he's taking the time to make me something that he wants me to enjoy. It's the same logic with that I'd rather have a birthday present that took time and effort (better if it's hand made) than to just grab something at the store and call it a day. Well many girls do not know how too cook. Many girls/woman like being pampered not having to cook is like that. Ladies like food just as much as guys do and if you cook/bake well even better. Many girls also hate getting dirty or messing up their nails and skin etc that rules out cooking.
