how Do I confront my friend about her constant lying?

My friend, let’s call her Jen, constantly lies. She even went so far as to give herself a fake hickey and tell us that her “boyfriend” gave it to her. She always says she gets in fights and beats people up at school. Ex-
Jen- “liv, I just punched some kid in the face!”
Me- (Who actually gets into fights) “What! Why?”
Jen- I don’t know, I just walked up to some random kid and hit him.”
The thing is, I want to believe her, but even the deaf and blind can tell she’s lying. Another repetitive conversation goes like this;
Jen: “some guy just grabbed my a**.”
Me- Who?
Jen- just some random guy. Then he called me a hoe.”
Me- “omg ur not a hoe.”
Jen- “yeah I am.”
She does that a lot, and really does for attention. I want to confront her, but I really don’t know how to without hurting her feelings. Please help!

She wants to be liked and so tries to make herself more interesting, tries to make befriending her more exciting. And it sounds like you're feeding into the drama. So try responding differently. Instead of saying things that prolong the conversation like "Really? What happened?" or "Who?" or "You're not a hoe" you say something that dismisses the whole topic, something like "I'm glad you didn't get hurt. Did you finish your math homework?" or "What a jerk! Do you know what the lunch is today?"

Just be very genuine and forthright. Tell her right away. Just say I really wish you wouldn't lie all the time. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. If you say it almost in a disappointed or concerned way she will take it more seriously, than if you were to say it condescendingly.

I'd just change the subject when she lies....
