Why do people think yoga is relaxing?

I've taken yoga and all I've gotten is discomfort (holding poses that are the OPPOSITE of relaxing) and pain. If it's not painful, it's boring. Why do people like it? And why do they say it's good for you?

*shrug* I find it relaxing. It's about the breathing and stretching. Gets the blood flowing and the heart steady. It genuinely makes me feel better. That and a cup of coffee every morning. It's painful because you're out of shape or maybe doing it wrong.

Afterwards it's relaxing if you do it right. Like a good cry, clawing at the floor is not relaxing but you needed to get it out. Or in the case of yoga, the tangible thing I can note is oxygen. You needed to get it into the muscle. Like a rack of ribs or chicken thighs, there's those little crevasses where you can't easily get all the meat out of, you have those too. And the blood can pool there or get stale so you physically push it out and suck fresh blood in by sitting on your own head and such.
