Tags are expired, what do I do?

So I bought this car and it's not registered to me yet, and the tags just expired a couple months ago, and I havent been driving it, but I live in medford Oregon and have to go to bend tonight, and my mom wont let me borrow her car and my brother in law has a car but its stick and I can barely drive stick, what would happen if I drove my car to bend and back? And if I got pulled over how much trouble would I be in? Because I've got no other options.

When you buy a vehicle you do a few things. Get insurance, transfer the title to your name, and get new tags or plates in your name.

If you do not, and drive it with expired tag, and it is not insured or in your name if you get stopped you get a ticket, your vehicle is towed and impounded, and you now have a lot to pay.

Depending on how long ago you bought the car you may now have a penalty to pay to get it registered.

You drive it and a cop sees you there will be a ticket at lease; they mite even impound the car, take a cab or walk it!

You would have to ask a psychic "what would happen?" but I will guess that it wouldn't be anything good.

Since it's not registered, it's also not insured. Not being insured, being pulled over is the least of your worries. If you cause an accident and total someone's car and/or injure or kill someone, your life would be over as you now know it. Not only would you be charged criminally, but you and your family would be sued for all costs and expenses -- and you have no insurance to back you up. It would be very stupid of you to drive the car without it being registered and insured.
