Ned Stark's sword was passed down from the Starks who came before him. Made of Valyrian steel, it was named Ice. It was stolen from Ned and used to behead him, then melted down to make two smaller swords for House Lannister, one of which went to Joffrey, the other much later given to Brienne of Tarth.
As far as I know, Robb's sword(s) were just regular swords.
