Recently I noticed when I press down on gas pedal, my car doesn t instantly accelerate rather there is a slight delay. Another thing I notice too is my car is going through gas faster. What can cause this? When I last got my car serviced, the mechanic recommended I get my transmission fluid change soon. Can this be the problem? I also read that low quality gas can cause also this

There could be any number of causes. Dirty throttle body, clogged injectors, aging spark plugs, etc.

Sounds like you need another mechanic if your car is feeling sluggish and burning more gas and all he recommends is changing the transmission fluid.

I dont think a service to the transmission will result is sudden fuel savings other than if its slipping very badly.
Generally if you do regular maintenance all should be good.

The condition is what is known as being all dogged out. Changing the ATF isn't going to fix it. Bad driving, speeding and jack-rabbit starts can cut your mpg dramatically. Low quality and low octane gas has lower power potential, yes. You can lose nearly10 mpg using E85 instead of real gasoline of the correct octane.
