I don't think it's a sin to drink alcohol and in fact it's practically impossible not to have some alcohol in the diet because of the action of naturally occurring and added yeast on sugars, e.g. in bread and fruit. I do, however, think it's bad for the health and leads people to do stupid and aggressive things.

Why are you getting nasty, argumentative, and insulting in your question? Typical of nonbelievers. Having a drink with dinner or a cold beer on a hot day is fine, Jesus Christ did indeed drink wine. It's getting drunk that is the problem.

Wine's a traditional part of communion. Sure, some modern sects basically use grape juice these days, but that's a modern twist. It used to be that even kids got a weak wine.
