It may only take NYCB 6 months or so to be ready to perform, but this is because they are meeting ALL OF THE TIME for rehearsal.

It depends on the piece. In general about a month for most things. The children from SAB who join the company (NYCB) on stage to dance in the Nutcracker and other pieces with children’s parts work on their parts for far longer.
