Are tourists subject to these kind of foreign laws?

Ive read that in some pats of the world,e.g-Indonesia)homosexuality is considered illegal and punishable by public whipping to those citizen who are caught engaging in the practice. But do those laws and the punishment apply only to the citizens or also to any tourists or foreigners who get caught doing the same thing?

As long as you are in a country you are subject to its laws.

You are ALWAYS subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where you are physically present. That is true in EVERY jurisdiction on the planet.

They apply to anyone. Even passengers on cruise ships who never sit foot on the country can be prosecuted if they engaged in prohibited acts while the ship is in port in the country.

Yes, absolutely.  Tourists and foreign residents are subject to the laws of the country they are in.

My friend's daughter (American) was a teacher in Qatar for many years but had to leave there because she wanted to have a child through sperm donation.   Being an unwed mother gets you thrown in jail in that country.

You can't send certain care package items to American military personnel depending on where they are stationed.  Alcohol, pork, etc.
