The current standard is 802.11ax (also known as Wi-Fi 6). The thing about the 802.11 is that the current standards are backward compatible with the prior standards.
If you have an 802.11ac compliant device it is supposed to work with 802.11ac, 802.11n, g and b and a. An 802.11ax device will interoperate with another 802.11 device at whatever that devices standard level is.
xfinity on demand is their streaming service, correct? Assuming that is what you're talking about these are two completely different technologies. You should be able to connect to the xfinity website over WiFi, then you can stream the content through your browser, or using their streaming application. But Wifi and media streaming are not directly related. One (WiFi) is the transport medium, the other is content.

No, because not all Wi-Fi-enabled routers can "speak" 11ac. And I have no data on whether ALL Xfinity routers can handle 11ac. You may have to call them in order to find out their percentage.

yeah just means the signal wont be stronger than N wireless devices.I havent used a 802.11 in 10 yrs.
