I filed for unemployment before I saw that my manager said I didn't have to, He would do it on my behalf..I didn't screw anything up did I?

I did email him and he said it was fine but I'm kind of overthinking it..I didn't receive anything extra it's the same amount if he had did it.

Unless things are different in your state you have to apply for unemployment.
Your employer can not do it for you.
