I’m thinking of an author who got arrested for writing a book?
Years ago in school I learned about a man who wrote A book and he was arrested for .Supposedly he was bullied really badly and he wrote a book about blowing up his school and then he was arrested for a ride in the book. But I don’t know what the name of the book was or the author I was just talking about this with my friend.

Oh - that was me. I remember those days well. My 2009 book - "I Want To Blow The Cr@p Out Of My School" - caused quite a bit of a stir. To be honest I quite enjoyed the notoriety and, as you probably know, there's no such thing as bad publicity, so overall it was a lot of fun.
Ironically, I didn't - and I've never - blown up any of my old schools. I have, however, burned down four of them. I mean, who hasn't? Hope this helped.
That sounds like an embellished version of a news story about a high school boy in California who wrote an essay for English class describing how to blow up the school. He was prosecuted by the state because they needed a test case in order to describe where to draw the line between fiction and threat. I remember it because it seemed like such an unfair situation that even the state attorney felt bad. The state badly needed the test case but it put the boy's family through the wringer. I'm pretty sure it was after Columbine but before Sandyhook.
I did a quick google (sorry, I have a life and can't spend forever googling old stories), but couldn't find it, but I did find that the scenario is not that uncommon:
