How would you go about locking a dogs tail?

There are not risks at all, that I know of. Docking tails are done with in three days of birth when the tail was just grizzle, docking the tail of an adult dog is major surgery cause now it is bone & not just grizzle.

Imagine a situation where an undocked Doberman got its tail caught in an elevator door. The elevator would leave causing the tail to be ripped off. Most of the skin on its butt and back would follow. As would its spine and intestine. This is why docking Doberman dogs is the rational solution.

If its a working dog, there is a risk of tail injury.

If this is just a pet..  A condition known as "happy tail", especially if the tail is very whip-like.
