Are there operating systems other than XP ?

I am told the reason that I can't get into my bank account on my banks website is because Windows XP is totally obsolete now. Is there another operating system that I can download which will work on my computer? Thank you in advance.

Windows XP is just a few months short of 20 years old.  A dinosaur.  We don't know which computer you have so we can't tell what will run on your computer.  Windows 10 is the current windows operating system.  If that won't work, you will have to look for a Windows 7 or 8 but even those are old and I would not trust them with your banking.  Perhaps, it is time for a new computer, with Windows 10.

XP is only old and unsupported. It is the choice of certain websites to restrict XP computers access that makes it look like XP is obsolete. It is a pity that technology shuns anything that works perfectly for so long and replaces it with something new but broken.

This obsession for programmed obsolescence is getting out of hand. There used to be a time when you bought something and expected it to work That is until you get totally tired of using it and either throw it away or slam it to the wall.

Wow!  It sounds a little like you found out that you needed to do online banking, so you said, "Is our old laptop in the hall closet, under the bed in the guest bedroom, or in the attic?" You fired it up and just now found out that XP is no longer supported.  Don't get me wrong, I really, really liked XP so much better than anything they've put out since '98, but I watched the clock ticking down on XP, and ran out and bought a refurbished laptop, then later a tablet, I mean really, my whole computer budget is probably like sixty bucks per annum all-in.  You could kind of squeak by with a refurbished laptop running win7 or 8, but it is already really shaky.  Does your computer have a DVD burner?  Most versions of Ubuntu are made to fit on a DVD.  The last version of Ubuntu that (I think) could still fit on a CD-rom was Hardy Heron.  You'll have to dredge around but look for Ubuntu distribution sites and go into their older versions.  Hardy Heron should be just enough to connect you to a better version of Ubuntu, if you want to leap off into all that.
If you really like your old version of XP, take it (the laptop) offline and don't ever take it on the internet again, get a cheap laptop, (I mean like $99-$135) either blank and install a good Ubuntu, or with win 8 or above... and that about does it.  Oh, and XP gave out on me and I had to update sometime in early 2014.

you  should  not  access  the  internet  using  xp  or  7 … this  is  true  especially  for  banking  and  similar  websites.  tomorrow  comes … your  account  will  be  at  zero  balance … and  you  will  owe  $75,000  for  credit-card  charges  that  you  did  not  make.  and … since  your  wife  believed  what  you  told  her … her  credit  and  car  and  savings  are  all  gone  as  well.  if  you  own  a  house … good  chance  you  will  lose  that  as  well.

are  you  beginning  to  understand  the  gravity  of  this  situation?  get  win-10 … and  get  yourself  some  a/v … do  it  now.
