Tax question about updating 2020 taxes?

I didn't receive my stimulus check because supposedly someone had me listed as a dependent on their taxes which makes no sense because I receive my refund. I filed married filing separate and only claim my son from a previous marriage on my taxes and my wife claimed her two biological kids from a previous marriage on her taxes and we did not list anyone else as dependents. My wife filed married filing a separate. I spoke with the IRS and they said I would just have to claim that information on my taxes to hopefully get reimbursed for the stimulus on my taxes. I am not sure how I would claim it or if I would need a special form for that

If you filed MFS electronically  and successfully claimed your son, then it was impossible for someone to claim you as a dependent.  (Dependents cannot claim dependents.)  A paper return would be processed the same way, even if domeone tried to claim you.  The clerks have an override key.

Thus, there is nothing to amend.

Many dependents qualify for refunds..But something is badly wrong here. Why would you file as married filing separately in your situation? That makes no sense. There are some pieces missing from your story.

Ways to claim next year on taxes, when you file for 2020, have not yet been worked out.

They may issue a separate form for it or it may just be a line item on the 1040. They haven't started to design the forms for 2020 yet, so there's no point worrying about it ow. You can't do anything about it until January.

Claim what information?

You do realize filing MFS is usually the worst possible way to file?

There will be a new credit on the 2020 tax return.

What the forms will look like is anyone's guess as the forms won't be available until late December or early January.
