[Piano] When do I use the sustain pedal in Classical Music? ?
In the Kreutzer Sonata, there's not a single pedal mark on the sheet music, but I think I hear it in pretty much every transcription... Is it used to emphasize longer notes?

The various uses of all 3 pedals contributes to resonance and the legato line. The sustain pedal is not there just to hold onto stacked chords of make a blurry mess, or let your fingers be lazy. To learn all the subtleties - and even basics - find a good teacher. There are a lot of things NOT on the
page.
