Will Vocational/career education make a come back in USA HS? How does it exactly work? When a student graduates are they able to be employed? Can that student still go to college even through they may have a technical diploma and not a standard

Back in the mid 1970’s we had automotive Classes for the students. They could get apprenticeships or start a local garage. And they did their academics.
One of the HS near me does have welding program, not sure what else they have. They still earn a HS diploma, but are not taking college prep classes, just the basics core subjects.
