Yes, there was an incident while lifeguarding, where I was helping someone in distress, near one of those round floating blow up platform things.........
they didn't have the strength or skill to make it up the rope ladder......so I dived under water to give them a boost and support them.
But one of those freak accident things.......their weight on the ladder pulled the rope away from the rubber platform, but once they were on top.....and safe..........the rope snapped back and caught my ankle, as I was still under water. Then tension on the rope, and now the weight on top of the platform, pulling the rope so taught, I couldn't get my foot out.......and I couldn't get my head above the water from where I was.
It was a real pickle. They were on top, safe, and I assumed catching their own breath, and didn't realize my predicament.
I tried like mad to pull my foot loose, and couldn't do it........I was going to drown. My lungs were starting to burn, and I knew I only had one shot left at this.....so, had to calm down, access the situation, imagine the solution.....and then worked out the correct leverage, and finally scraped my foot free......and broke the surface, with 0 seconds to spare.
It was goddamn close.........I really thought I might be a goner there for a second.
peace
Yes......... but I don’t remember what the people look like
Ghost Of Christmas Past
I once pulled the driver out of a burning car. About 20 seconds later, as I was walking away, the fuel tank exploded.
