I am currently a dental student and I highly recommend getting your dental needs evaluated at a school to see if you qualify for treatment. The advantages of going to a school are 1) lowered prices 2) quality care that is checked by experienced faculty members 3) plenty of one-on-one time that will ensure your dental needs and questions are all taken care of. The disadvantage is that appointments are long (up to three hours) because we're slower than experienced practitioners and also because we have to wait for faculty to check our work before moving on to the next step. Of course I can't speak for all dental students, but the majority of us really care about our patients and would go above and beyond school requirements to make sure they're happy and comfortable with their treatment. Hope you get a chance to look into a school near you!
